I reboot my T-Mobile Wing pretty regularly to make sure that I have the most memory available to me.  One of the shortcomings of the Wing is that the pagepool size is so large that it leaves very little memory for running programs.

pc_capture1 Instead of having to do the standard "hold the power button for it to go into shutdown", I wrote a simple app that performs the soft reset.

If you are looking for something to do that, you can download it below.  I have only tested it on the Wing, so I am not sure how it will function with other devices.  Hypothetically it should work on any device that is running Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6, but I can't guarantee, so don't try it if you don't want to risk data loss.

If you do decide to try it, feel free to leave me comments or suggestions from your experience.  I would like to eventually add a scheduler component so you can schedule your reboots if necessary.

To install, download the cab file to your mobile device, and click on it to install.

I just published my first version of an "Insert File" Plugin for Windows Live Writer.

The new plugin allows you to Insert a file attachment into your blog entry. The plugin supports specifying the link caption as well as a link prefix. This is a perfect alternative to having to manually upload an attachment that you want to include with a post.

You can download it at the Windows Live Gallery here.

You can find information about my original post topic here.

I originally developed the plugin back in September 2006 and am just getting around to updating some of its functionality.  I have had several requests from users to update the plugin to include the Associate ID tag which gives credit to the associate when a purchase is made.

I have updated the install package to include the Associate ID functionality.  As I am writing this, I realized that I should've wrote in some code to actually remember the Associate ID being used.  I'll add that in the next iteration to come shortly (hopefully in the next couple of days).

The package assumes that you have Windows Live Writer Beta 2 installed.  I haven't tested the updated package on Beta 1, so I can't guarantee it will work with Beta 1.

Please post any comments with questions or other suggestions for the plugin.

I was in Las Vegas on vacation last week.  A "run-in" probably isn't the right wording, but it sounded interesting, right?  On Saturday we were walking through the new Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino and checking out the Miracle Mile Shops when we came across a sports memorabilia store.  It was none other than "Charlie Hustle" himself sitting at a table and signing autographs.  Here are a couple photos that I took while passing through.

Pete Rose Pete Rose

I didn't wait in line for an autograph and was a little torn anyway when thinking if I should.  Pete Rose was a phenomenal baseball player.  After all he holds the records for most hits, at-bats, games played, and outs.  That is pretty impressive.

But, he made the mistake of betting on baseball, and in some cases for or against his own team.  In 2004 he admitted to the betting and was banned from ever being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

So, I wanted the autograph but I didn't.  Nonetheless, it was great to see someone in person that at one point in history was an iconic figure of America's favorite pastime.
